Heliotrope Perfumes and Fragrances

The word ‘heliotrope’ means to turn towards the sun and these little flowers make the voyage every day to follow the sun as it crosses the sky. The flowers on the Cherry Pie Plant (another common name for Heliotrope) can be blue, purple or white with the purple flowers being the most fragrant.

The Heliotrope flowers have a heady vanilla, powdery aroma when used in fragrances and is best suited to oriental fragrances and gourmands. The comforting smell of the heliotrope induces feelings of relaxation as highlighted by its' use in perfumes like Elizabeth Arden's True Love perfume
