Vetiver

Vetiver is a tall grass with a fibrous, dense root system.

It thrives in wet and damp environments such as marshes and riverbanks. Vetiver oil is often used in fragrances for its refreshing, citrus-like aroma that has a slight edge of woodiness.

To obtain essential oil, the roots of vetiver are distilled. In Sri Lanka this aromatic root is often called ‘oil of tranquillity’ as it is known for its relaxing and refreshing properties.

The essential oil of vetiver is commonly used in perfumery, cosmetics, soaps, as a drink flavourer and to perfume linen clothes. Vetiver fragrances have a refreshing scent and a slow evaporation rate, making the fragrance last for longer. Vetiver blends beautifully with notes of vanilla, sandalwood, patchouli and rose giving them an energizing lift.

A fragrance that employs the refreshing benefits of vetiver is Eternity for Men by Calvin Klein. Eternity for Men is designed for a man who wants to stand out in the crowd and whose confidence radiates. It beautifully captures what it means to be a modern man - it is sophisticated, yet masculine.

Consisting of distinctive notes of lavender, herbs, mandarin and sandalwood, vetiver is added to give the fragrances an uplifting feel.

Vetiver is called the ‘oil of tranquillity’ for a reason. Discover the uplifting and motivating qualities of vetiver.
