To be Forewarned is to be Forearmed! - Cosmetics Fragrance Direct

In recent newspaper reports, Target have agreed to pay Estée Lauder $1 million for damages, profits, interest and costs as a result of Target selling MAC branded product that was not proven to be not fake. MAC had not sold these items to Target.

This serves as a timely warning to all consumers who are wooed by unbelievably low prices on international prestige brands. Retailers who have historically not sold Cosmetics and Fragrance are venturing into this world due to the large savings which the parallel and import market can offer them. BUT… at what cost to consumers we ask? Australia has a lucrative grey or parallel import market. Shipping containers full of Cosmetic and Fragrance products flood it’s shores every month. The items have varying levels of authenticity and quality. We have seen fragrance being retailed in Australia in recent months which has not been available in Australia for many years. What is the age of these products we question?

Cosmetics Fragrance Direct is extremely proud to source 100% of its product direct from the authorised stockists here in Australia. We can therefore confirm the authenticity and quality of ANY item purchased from our stores. At times, retail prices may be marginally higher than other retailers who are selling parallel import sourced products however; we are comfortable with the quality of the product we offer our consumers. Our customers can be confident that the items they are paying for in our stores are exactly as they are expecting which can be backed up by any of our suppliers, such as Revlon, Estée Lauder, Clarins, Elizabeth Arden etc. There’s no smoke and mirrors with the items you purchase from Cosmetics Fragrance Direct.

In the picture below you can see an example of a look-a-like Marc Jacobs Daisy fragrance which was purchased from a Queensland retailer. To the untrained consumer’s eye, the Marc Jacobs Daisy pictured would not stand out as a fake. The consumer could be lulled into a false sense of security, thinking they are making a prestige brand purchase of an internationally recognised and acclaimed fragrance. Sadly, they would not be!

Therefore, to be forewarned is to be forearmed! Please be careful when making purchases of Fragrance and Cosmetics from Australian retailers. Not all are selling you the product you believe you’re purchasing!
