Rimmel

Established in 1834, the international cosmetics brand, Rimmel is one of the oldest cosmetic brands in the world. In 1820, a French perfumer to royalty agreed to manage a perfumery in London where he worked with his son and young apprentice, Eugene Rimmel. Rimmel’s time at the perfumery sharpened his skills and knowledge concerning perfume and cosmetics.

Rimmel loved experimenting with colours and cosmetics. He also greatly contributed to the improvement of personal hygiene and was the first to create products such as hair styling waxes and mouth rinses. One of his most innovative products was the first non-toxic mascara. The success of this cosmetic product led to the word ‘rimmel’ being used for mascara to this day in languages such as French, Italian, Portuguese, Romanian, Spanish and Turkish.
