L’Oreal Makeup The Basics and Beyond

Whether it’s an everyday item or something for a special occasion, L’Oréal Paris has it all when it comes to makeup. Based in France, L’Oréal has everything from hair products to skin care, but I think it is in makeup that the brand really shines. With every product and colour under the sun, however, it can sometimes be hard to find what you need; I have pulled together a few basics and a few special items from L’Oréal that I think are the most notable and give you the best bang for your buck.

The Basics

There are the basics of makeup, products that help create and then define any look. L’Oréal, like any make up brand, provides these basics, but with their own twists of in-depth colour matching, precise applicators and smoothing oils to elevate them to the spot of personal favourite.

True Match Liquid Foundation Range

Every good make up look starts with a good base, and L’Oréal’s liquid foundation provides that base. Their True Match range are super-blendable foundations that have an opaque finish and a creamy texture. True Match’s main claim to fame is that the range comes in over 40 different shades to provide not just a flawless finish, but the perfect colour match. True Match foundation achieves this by offering shades in three different undertones- neutral, cool and warm. This breadth of shades means you are going to find something just for you, a great base for any makeup look.

Colour Riche Lipsticks

Highly pigmented and long lasting, L’Oréal’s range of Colour Riche (French for ‘rich colour’) lipsticks are a vibrant addition to any look. The formula of these lipsticks is enriched with camellia and jojoba oils for hydration and comfort, as well as a combination of omega 3 oils and vitamin E to moisturize your lips and apply smoothly. Colour Riche lipstick have an expansive range of colours and finishes, from classic matte reds to pearlescent pale shades. There is something for everyone, regardless of style, event, or desired look.

Brow Artist Micro Tattoo Eyebrow Definer

Inspired by micro-blading, the L’Oréal Brow Artist Micro Tattoo Eyebrow Definer (say that ten times fast!) has a three-pronged micro tip that mimics micro-blading for creating natural-looking brows. The trident tip allows you to make hair-like strokes with a ‘tattoo’ formula that can last up to 24 hours, and is small as to provide precise detail. It also comes in a range of colours, so that you can blend natural brow and beauty products seamlessly.

The L’Oréal Specials

Alongside the basics that every look needs, L’Oréal also provides some special products that have a unique L’Oréal twist. For a little bit of extra luxury or glow, I have a few products below that take a look a little bit further, either in comfort or style.

True Match Mattifying Finishing Powder

We all have different ways of combating that oiliness that arises over a full day of makeup wear, and for me that solution is finishing powder. The translucent powder does not change the appearance of your makeup, and applies flawlessly over you’re your makeup look to soak up oils and set your face for the day. L’Oréal’s True Match Mattifying powder is the most satisfying finishing powder that I have found- it mattifies and sets fantastically, but also applies so smoothly and with such a silky-soft finish that I always feel a little bit luxurious when I use it.

Base Magique Primer

Primer is another product that is used to help keep makeup in place and flawless throughout the day, and this one does it magnificently. The Base Magique primer comes in a small glass jar, and you use your fingertip to apply the thick cream to your skin. In doing so, you will feel as the unique blend of silicone oils and soft powders glides into a velvet-soft primer that smooths wrinkles and pores for creating a flawless makeup look. If the finishing powder was luxurious, this primer is royally sumptuous.

Glow Cherie Glow Enhancer

This last one is for me, as I find it so much fun. The Glow Enhancer can be used all over the face in the place of a primer or as a highlighter, even if you are not wearing other makeup. It contains light-reflecting particles that give you a natural, healthy glow that leaves you looking fresh. It is also a creamy formula, enriched with watermelon extract for easy application and hydration. I love this for the little bit of pop and sparkle it gives that brightens up a day, as well as the wonderful watermelon scent.
